Introducing our new Workshop Manager Liam Thomas
We are very excited to be announcing VWA’s newly appointed Workshop Manager, Liam Thomas. We are all thrilled to have Liam on board, and look forward to having him around at the Wood Design Centre. With his extraordinary wealth of knowledge and practical skills sets, we are very excited to see our wood working facility and community grow with him here.
Liam’s expertise spans across two main areas in the furniture making industry. The first is as a designer maker where he creates furniture and objects under his own brand ‘We Eat The Sun’. Liam’s designs are “influenced by simplicity in design, and driven by a “construction based view”, whilst at the same time highlights a harmonious balance between line and proportion making each piece he makes timeless.
In Liam’s second area of expertise he runs a Mid Century furniture restoration business called Medium Rare. Here he combines an in-depth knowledge on finishing methods and repairs works, whilst also drawing on traditional cabinet making techniques.

Having spent many years practising furniture making for a variety of well known brands in the UK and Australia, Liam is a designer maker who recognises the importance of both continuous practise and lifelong learning. It is this dedication to skill and knowledge of woodworking, along with Liam’s generous disposition to share his knowledge with the maker community, that makes Liam a wonderful workshop manager to have here at the VWA. Welcome Liam Thomas!
