VWA Story
The Victorian Woodworkers Association Inc, founded in 1979, is the leading woodcraft guild in Victoria. Its diverse membership includes professional designer/makers and wood artists, serious amateurs, students and industry organisations.
The principle aims are to:
- promote the design and making of fine woodwork
- expand the markets for fine woodwork
- support woodwork as a viable career
- foster excellence in woodwork production and design
- facilitate networking between woodworkers
To fulfil these objectives the VWA holds exhibitions, master classes, workshops, and programs covering a wide range of wood related topics at its bimonthly meetings, and this website.
The VWA manages a Wood Design Centre and Workshop housed at the Meat Market Arts Centre, 42 Courtney St, North Melbourne, Vic. 3051. With the help of Creative Victoria, the Centre provides low cost access to facilities and equipment for emerging designers and wood artists, and for VWA members.
Also at the Meat Market Arts Centre the Association operates the VWA School of Woodcraft. The school provides short term, open and master classes in in all aspects of fine woodwork. For more information on classes, click here.
