In this month’s Community News, we have an opportunity for a workshop space in Melbourne and a timber sale in East Gippsland.
Workshop space available
A workspace is becoming available in a shared woodworking workshop in Reservoir from late April. The available area is 6 × 5.5 metres and will be completely empty for the incoming tenant.
The workshop is shared with four other makers (five in total) in a friendly, like-minded environment and includes 24/7 access, a large paved driveway/car park, and access to a range of machinery including: panel saw, large buzzer and 500mm thicknesser, dedicated rip saw, large and small bandsaws, 900mm wide belt sander, drop saw bench, drill press, and hinge-boring drill press setup.
Rent: $980 per calendar month (no GST), covering machinery maintenance and outgoings.

The Birdseye, there is 7 lengths at about 3.8 meters long
The Ironbark bridge beam there is 4 longer and 2 shorter lengths
See below image of the east Gippsland Birdseye made into a tall boy. This is from the messmate species. With the closure of the timber industry these timbers are becoming rare to source.
Simon is looking to sell all the timber as a whole and not bits and pieces. The price $3,500.00 plus gst. Buyer to arrange and pay freight costs.
