MDW: C.R.E.A.M presented by Bricolage
As part of Melbourne Design Week Dan Barker of Bricolage will be hosting C.R.E.A.M, a solo pop up exhibition in his Collingwood-based showroom.
Bricolage is a small team of passionate furniture makers specialising in one-off and limited run pieces, founded by Dan Barker. This Melbourne Design Week event is the launch of two new coffee tables displayed in the Bricolage Showroom on Johnston Street with new lighting and floral displays. Coffee table 1 is inspired by biscuits and marshmallows: offset wonky puffy base with a maple burl veneered thick biscuit top. Coffee table 2 has a nod towards mid century design: Two nesting wing tables with maple burl veneer.
“These are two new coffee tables I have been working on for the past month in response to my exhibition title Cash Rules Everything Around Me. They are my answer to an industry with an ever increasing cost on materials, and a reluctance by clientele to see the real value in what we do as makers. I have used as little timber as possible, to reach a maximum impact on design. Both coffee tables are inspired by my boys, being that they have both come from the same tree, yet completely different in personality.”Dan Barker
