The main piece I’ve been working on is a side table composed of two types of timber of different densities which are laminated together. The idea being once the piece has a charred finish is applied the two types of timber will burn at different rates creating an overall linear texture but cohesive appearance. The process has been interesting as there is a level of the unknown when applying a direct flame to your work and a required flexibility in how to resolve the final outcome.

I have been playing and exploring a lot of ideas lately. I have been working on the lathe creating geometric shapes. At the same time, I have been manipulating tyre inner tubes using textile techniques. The aim is to combine these two processes together to create new work.
