Meet#48 Visit to Bern Chandley’s Workshop

Bern Chandley is well known for his handcrafted Windsor chairs using both traditional and modern techniques. Bern says Windsor chairs have incredibly strong joinery allowing them to endure generations of punishment, and the structure of these chairs allows for an almost endless variety of designs; anything from decorative traditional to simplified modern. He is also a furniture maker and his work includes all manner of tables and cabinets with an emphasis on hand finished details and carving.

Bern will take us on a tour of his workshop, present some of his current work and give us an insight into the craft of chairmaking.
