Meet#52 FSC Accreditation of Victorian Native timber Harvesting

When

Where
Castle Hotel
56 Courtney St
North Melbourne
Downstairs meeting room.

Guest: Timothy McBride, Manager, Biodiversity Conservation and Research at VicForests

VicForests has been undergoing the process to have its harvesting and regeneration systems certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). This is a very important initiative which will be of interest to anyone who values and uses Victorian timbers and our native forests.

FSC Controlled Wood standard enables manufacturers and traders of wood products to gain certainty that sources of raw material are not acquired from unacceptable practices or forests. Over the last few years, FSC Australia has been developing an Australian standard which was ratified last year.

Our speaker is Timothy McBride, Manager, Biodiversity Conservation and Research at VicForests. Tim will speak about the Forestry Stewardship Council, the development of the Australian FSC standard, and the VicForest process for seeking FSC certification.

Please note the new venue. Snack food will be provided and you can buy drinks at the bar.

All are welcome, including friends and non VWA members.
