Siegfried Chaloupka – maker in wood and metal.

Siegfried Chaloupka is a multidisciplinary designer and maker in contemporary furniture, tools and objects.

As a hands on professional mechanical engineer, Siegfried has worked in prototyping, and general fabrication in sectors ranging from heavy industry to defence.

As a woodworker, Siegfried trained under his father – Peter Chaloupka, a German master cabinetmaker, who was the frame maker, conservator, carver and gilder at the NGV Melbourne. Siegfried later trained under master craftsman Frank Wiesner in Toowoomba, Qld.

Siegfried works out of his humble small home workshop, designing pieces that marry traditional woodworking techniques and design with engineering principles to create beautiful and highly functional objects.
