Meet#59 – Behind the scenes of professional woodworking.

As part of our strategic review, the VWA has been looking at the health of our industry, and the ways that we might be able to better help professional woodworkers. With the help of the Melbourne Business School, we spoke to local independent woodworkers about how their work was going and the different challenges they face. Researcher Arbaaz Tareen will be presenting his findings at our September meeting. Some of the questions we addressed include:

Do woodworkers have problems finding new work?
Is woodworking a sustainable source of income?
What is the single biggest challenge in running a woodwork business?

Some of the results will surprise you. Find out more on the night!

We will also discuss how the VWA might respond to some of these findings, and appreciate your input to help guide our approach.
