Member Feature: Benjamin Reddan
VWA member Benjamin Reddan, is a furniture designer maker who works from his Yarra Valley studio. He creates both unique bespoke and batch run pieces that are sold across Melbourne and interstate. Benjamin completed studies in Furniture Design at RMIT in 2009, and followed up with an intensive cabinet making apprenticeship from 2010–2014. Since then he has run his own business, trading under the name ‘Soul of Bespoke’. He prides himself on his attention to detail, which has stemmed from his philosophy that well made woodwork is an art form with a soul, and every aspect of a piece, whether it’s a corner block, a hinge, or inlay, must be treated with respect.
Benjamin Reddan recently exhibited a selection of these intricate keepsake boxes, Japanese memory boxes and pendants as part of the joint exhibition – Align and Cut at Hive Gallery, Ocean Grove.
