VWA Artists in Residence Update

Over the past few months I have been working on a system for a cabinet that uses textiles as a moving screen to open and close certain sections of a cabinet. I’m also making some chairs for the VIVID Emerging Designer Awards which are being held in early July.

I’m still exploring and playing around with the use of discarded tyre inner tubes and timber! I have chosen to continuing working with circles, inspired by the circular geometry of bicycle tyres. This time I have scaled down the timber circles to only 80mm in diameter still using a brick pattern for strength. My aim is to hollow out a section to receive the rope made from discarded tyre inner tubes.
