Welcoming our new Artists in Residence
The Artists in Residency Program supports emerging wood craftspeople and designers. It’s a 3-year program which includes the provision of studio space at our North Melbourne headquarters, access to a fully equipped machine room and opportunities to network with like-minded professionals.
We are delighted to introduce two new Artist in Residence – Emily McRae and Wanda Gillespie.
Emily McRae
Emily is a Naarm/Melbourne based designer and maker with a background in architecture. She has a particular interest in experimenting with traditional craft techniques in a playful way. From one-of-a-kind furniture pieces to small batch production, her work seeks to produce considered, timeless outcomes.

Renowned for her interactive small and large scale abacus sculptures as well as her wood carved figurative and portrait sculpture, she is driven by a belief in the spiritual potency of physical matter. Her work explores themes of history, time, truth, and the mystical, drawing inspiration from ancient artifacts and the harmonious patterns and perfection of nature’s mathematics.
